Grants and Commissions
- Commission from the River City Brass Band in celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the City of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with support from the Pittsburgh 250 Community Connections Committee: “Snapshots of a Great City”, completed in March and premiered by the RCBB in May, 2008
- Commission from the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble for, "Eight Slicesof Nature", premiered on April 11, 1989
- Faculty Development Grant from Carnegie Mellon University for computer music research, 1985-1986 and 1987-1988
- Fellowship grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts for "Seasons Within" for choir, ensemble and bass baritone soloist, written for the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, the Pittsburgh Oratorio Society and soloist, Lee Cass. This work was completed in December of 1985 and premiered at Chatham College under Donald Wilkins on May 5, 1986
- Composers' Assistance Grant from the American Music Center for production of the score and parts for "Seasons Within" in 1985
- Research grants from the Center for the Development of Educational Computing at Carnegie Mellon University for computer music research in 1984 and 1985
- Commission from Carnegie Mellon University for an orchestral work: "Nuclear Winter ", completed in September of 1984 and premiered by the Carnegie Mellon Orchestra on January 13, 1985 under Werner Torkanovsky
- Commission from the McKeesport Symphony Orchestra with a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts for an orchestral work in celebration of their twenty-fifth anniversary season: "Soundscapes for Orchestra", completed in September of 1983 and premiered by the orchestra under James Meena on March 31, 1984
